Workspace / User Data Filter Predicate Pushdown

Hi GoodData Community --

With regard to Workspace / User Data Filters, it’s not clear to me where this filtering takes place.  Are these predicates pushed down to the underlying data source or does the SQL execution engine perform this filtering after retrieval?

Hello,

No ETL is needed on GoodData Cloud nor do we push any changes to your data in your data source when using workspace / User Data Filters. These filters are applied “on the fly”. Are you having any issue with the implementation?

Hi Moises,

Where does the on the fly filtering occur though?  Is it appended to the generated SQL that is executed on the underlying database or is the unfiltered result set pruned within GoodData?

Hi,

Filtering is always appended to every generated SQL query, before the query is executed.
