Hi, we have a feature request (just in case we didn’t overlook something that’s already existing): In a barchart + line chart combo you can have 2 axes. In many cases those two show different value ranges, but we have cases where we want to synch them. Currently we do that by hardcoding the size of both of them, but that doesn’t work well when we apply filters. Is there a way to “synch axis” in situation with two axes?
i
Hi Thomas, Interesting use-case, for sure! Are we speaking about duplicating X or Y axis here, or rather having the same attribute scaled on both axis?
It would be great if you cold provide me with some example.
Somehow, I think that I misunderstood you here. 🙂 Did you mean that you'd like to see for e.g. range of 100 on X and also the range of 100 on Y?
t
It is especially about the y-axis. Lets assume the bars show monthly revenue and the line shows last years revenue. We‘d like to see the bars axis (left) and the lines axis (right) to be on the same scale so that we can compare them
i
You can set the minimum and maximum values for an axis under the configuration as described here.
t
We did that, but it doesn’t help in the embedded scenario where every customer will see different data
i
Could you share some example with me, please? Like, if they adjust the filters applied to such chart, or how exactly do your customers change the min/max values of their axes then? Are you maybe looking for some option to "lock" the settings?
t
Here’s an example: We have a “Conversions” count on the bars. Conversions in our Business are still requiring validation, and so they can exist in 3 states: open, confirmed, or rejected. In this Graph, we’d love to have the green line to show how many of the conversions are still open. Everything over the line is already decided. The problem is just, that the axis of the line doesn’t scale with the left axis, so there is no way to put the line down to the same level. Of course, I could hardcode the right axis to go to much higher values, but this will only be ok as long as I don’t apply filters to it. I’d like to have the bars and the lines scale on the same axis, no matter if the numbers are around 30k values or around 100.

Hi Thomas, thank you for sharing the interesting example. Now, everything is more clear I will check and I will come back to you. Thank you for you patience.
t
Thank you!

Hi Thomas, may I ask how did you created the
Conversion Count
in the example? and where did you add the filter? I tried to replicate exactly the same scenario (with dummy data). And, I can get something like the attached image. I defined manually the limits for both axis, but they do not change when I change or i apply a filter. Are you interested in show only one line at once?
t
Both, “Conversion count” and “Open Conversion Count” are individual metrics. The problem is, that you manually defined the limits of both axis. We do not want to do this, since we have very different volumes for different customers. However: we found a solution just 1 minute ago:
“show on right axis”
5 different people looking at this didn’t find this little hidden menu, but it solves the problem

With this we disabled the right axis, and thus both, the lines and the bars align to the left axis
m
Wow!! Nicely done 👏 Our apologies for this.
Im glad, now is working as expected 🙂
t
same here. everyone happy now 😉
