I have created a drill-to visualization that shows a grid of records. Unfortunately, the date fields are bold and allow clicking to an empty window. How do I turn off the bolding? The properties of the grid do not allow me to turn-off the 'drill down' checkbox, why not?

Hey Greg, this almost looks like an issue with your permissions, could you please confirm your role within the workspace? Are you an admin?
g
yes, I am an admin
I'm pretty sure I could turn off the drill-down checkbox in the past on the pivot table properties but for some reason it is grey-out and won't allow me the change it now. Nothing has changed as far as I know.
Wait, there was a change a couple months ago - we downgraded from the enterprise edition to professional. I wonder if this has anything to do with this issue...
j
Changing the edition you are on should not effect this. Could you please DM a link to the workspace and I will check it with the admin account?
Hi Greg, Ok so the bolding is consistent when drilling. This is just apart of the product and I can submit it as product feedback if you'd like.
The interactions section being greyed out here is quite strange. I'm still looking into this
Ok, so the interactions will be greyed out like this and unusable unless a metric has been added to the viz itself. If you add a metric you will then be able to use those interactions.

Hi Joseph,
yes, I definitely need product feedback to know about this scenario. As you have seen, a normal use case for us is to allow the user to click on a chart segment and see the underlying data records in listing form. There is often no totals or metrics even if the data is numeric. Our customers can then export the record list and do their own calculations if needed, So, bottom line is that we do not want the customer to drill down on a date as they are now allowed to do but there's nothing I can do to take away this behavior. I am going to have confused clients. It would be great if the drill down checkbox was not greyed out and I could turn this drill-down off independent from whether a metric is used or not. thx!

🎉 New note created.

Thanks for the details on the use case. I've pushed this to our product team for now. Should this become a critical feature please reach out to your account owner further communication. Also, you can follow the release notes for any new updates on the product itself.

Hello @Greg Lindstrom, in order to remove drill down option from the table you need to go to edit mode on dashboard where visualization is placed. Select options for specific visualization -> Interactions -> remove drill-down (or define new one). Does it work for you? Or do you need to achieve anything else?
g
Hi, I do want drill-down on the visualization that is on the dashboard. The issue is with the visualization that I drill to - it is a pop-up window showing the table in the image. Every date column is highlighted by default and showing to the user that they can drill again a second time. I cannot turn off this highlighting because I have no metrics in the table. GD is treating this as a bug and is fixing at some point. in the meantime the workaround I found is to redefine all my date fields as strings and showing the string fields in the table, they are not highlighted as dates are.

Hello Greg, if drill-down is desired, then by default we apply date hierarchy drill down, depending on granularity of selected date attribute. Could this issue be caused by fact that granularity of date attribute is defined to days -> hours -> minutes, but in reality "minutes" granularity is missing in data itself and therefore empty table is shown? In such case you would need to adjust date attribute granularity in data modeler..
if thats not the case, could you maybe record short video of what you are experiencing?

Hi Jan, The issue is not with the drill down, it is the pivot table I am drilling to. Sorry, because I drill-down from a bar chart to this pivot table it made it sound like the issue was with the drill down from the barchart to the pivot table but it is not, the issue is how the pivot table is displaying once I drill to it. In the pivot table I have many fields (including date fields) in the 'ROW' section but no fields in the 'METRIC' section because I have no metrics. When I click on the bar chart and the pivot table is displayed, all of the date fields are bold hyperlinks allowing the user to click them and see a 'Sorry, we can't display this visualization' message. Because the pivot table has no metric fields, the checkbox labeled 'Drill down' in the pivot table interactions section is checked by default but greyed out so I can't uncheck it. Joseph said I should add a field to the metric section so that the 'Drill down' check box will be accessible and I can 'uncheck' it. The problem of course is I have no metrics for this pivot table. Our product rep Nikos emailed me on Jan 6th and said the product team is fixing this as a bug. I believed this to mean after the fix I will be able to uncheck the 'drill down' checkbox even when there are no metrics. In the meantime I have redefined all my date fields to be strings so they display in the pivot table but are not bolded, it's a lot of extra work to redefine all the date fields.

ok, now I got finally understand what exactly is the problem you are experiencing.. I can confirm it is bug, and we will work on resolving it.

Thank you Jan!
