Hello Team, I'm inquiring if there's a way to introduce a fresh visualization type within the GoodData Cloud Analytical Designer. In essence, I aim to broaden the range of available visualization types, extending beyond what's outlined in the documentation at this link: https://www.gooddata.com/developers/cloud-native/doc/cloud/create-visualizations/visualization-types/. For instance, if we were to generate a new visualization following the guidelines provided here: https://sdk.gooddata.com/gooddata-ui/docs/create_new_visualization.html, and subsequently incorporate it as a chart type in the Analytical Designer. Please let me know if this is feasible and any additional steps required.

Hi Prashant, Cuztom Visualizations are meant to be embedded within dashboards. Could you please elaborate on what specific type of chart you are looking to build?

This can apply to various chart types. For instance, we might want to create a chart that combines two different chart types, such as a combination of a bar chart and a line chart. However, the goal is to display this combined chart within the Analytical Designer.

Hi Prashant, sorry for jumping in here but in GD Cloud we already have the option to create a bar chart and a line chart with our “Combo” charts in Analytical Designer: https://www.gooddata.com/developers/cloud-native/doc/cloud/create-visualizations/visualization-types/combo-charts/

Thank you, @Michael Ullock for pointing that out. I wasn't aware. However, let's consider a scenario where a specific chart type is not available, such as a radial chart, a polar area chart or any other chart type. We are currently exploring various options to find a way to implement these custom chart types in Analytical designer.

Hi Prashant, for “custom” visualisations you need to use the approach my colleague mentioned previously here: https://sdk.gooddata.com/gooddata-ui/docs/create_new_visualization.html However, these visualisations are not possible to propagated into Analytical Designer, the approach for us would be provide “Product feedback” on your behalf and our Product team will review your request for a new visitations to be added into AD.
