String-based parameters: Define parameters with text values, such as scenarios, categories, or named business assumptions. 2. Single metric, multiple outcomes: Use string parameters in CASE or IF-based metric logic to switch calculations. For example, one metric returning Actual, Budget, or Forecast results, instead of separate metrics for each. 3. Runtime switching: Dashboard users can change the active value directly from the dashboard, with the selection preserved in saved views, shared links, exports, scheduled exports, and alerts.
