06/11/2026, 8:06 PMANALYZE workspace permission, or introducing a new workspace permission between ANALYZE and MANAGE that lets users create metrics?kapa.ai
06/11/2026, 8:06 PMMANAGE workspace permission. The ANALYZE permission only allows users to view metrics (alongside creating/editing dashboards and visualizations), while MANAGE is needed to create or edit them. [Manage Workspace Permissions]
Roadmap: The knowledge sources do not explicitly mention a plan to move metric creation into ANALYZE or introduce a new intermediate permission specifically for that purpose. However, there is a roadmap item for Object-Level Permissions that is relevant here:
> Fine-grained access control that defines who can view, edit, or manage individual analytics objects â extending beyond dashboards to cover the semantic layer and visual components, including permissions for individual visualizations, metrics, and data fields.
This suggests GoodData is working toward more granular control over metrics (and other objects) rather than simply adjusting the existing workspace permission tiers.
In the meantime, the workaround discussed in the community for allowing metric creation without full LDM editing rights is granting ANALYZE + MANAGE but not granting the USE permission on the data source â though this hasn't been officially confirmed as the recommended approach in the knowledge sources. I'd recommend submitting this as product feedback directly to GoodData, as user demand helps shape prioritization of these kinds of permission improvements. đ 0 button đ 0 button âšī¸ Tip: Mention @kapa.ai in the thread for follow-ups.

06/11/2026, 8:24 PMMANAGE. There's no intermediate permission tier today.
More granular creation permissions are on the roadmap, but no public timeline yet. I'll log this as product feedback on your behalf.
The best workaround is a workspace hierarchy
https://www.gooddata.com/docs/cloud/workspaces/workspace-hierarchy
Build your core metrics in a parent workspace, and users in child workspaces can use them but not edit them, while still being able to create their own. Note that child workspaces count toward your workspace limit.
