Hi, I've done this before but i forget... I am adding one more date field to a file that already exists in the LDM. If I recall, the date does not always display separately in the diagram like it does for dates fields that exist when the file is first added. What is the technique to use or steps to follow so it appears as a normal date like all the others?

The knowledge sources don't explicitly describe the exact visual behavior difference you're recalling (where a newly added date field doesn't display separately in the LDM diagram). However, based on the available documentation and community discussions, here is the standard technique for properly adding a new date field to an existing dataset in the LDM: Steps to add a date field to an existing dataset: 1. Open your Logical Data Model in Edit mode. 2. From the left panel, drag a Date dataset onto the canvas. 3. Draw a relationship (arrow) from the new Date dataset to your existing dataset. 4. Open the details of your existing dataset, go to the Data Mapping tab, and map the new Date reference to the correct source column in your database — make sure that column is of
DATE
or
TIMESTAMP
data type (not a string). [Date Datasets] 5. (Optional) Configure the Date dataset — click Edit on it to set a title, title pattern, and select the granularity levels you want available. [Add Date Datasets] 6. Save and publish your data model. 7. After saving, reload the cached data — this step is important and has resolved similar issues in the community where date fields weren't behaving correctly after being added. [Community Slack] > Important: GoodData requires the source column to be of
DATE
or
TIMESTAMP
data type — string columns cannot be imported as date datasets. [Prepare Your Data] If after following these steps the date still doesn't appear correctly in the diagram or in reports, the reload cached data step is worth trying first, as it resolved a similar issue for another user in the community. 👍 0 button 👎 0 button â„šī¸ Tip: Mention @kapa.ai in the thread for follow-ups. 👀 Our Support team monitors all messages and will jump in if needed.

Worked. It would be nice if this process just 'worked' automatically rather than needed to manually follow these steps.
