Hi Team , For the past few days we have been encountering errors for the below filters This Year Year to Date For a client , i used MTD compared with previous period filter and got a certain revenue, but when i used This Year compared to previous period filter i am getting "No data for your filter selection". Images attached below FYR Also our client has been added last month only to our platform. i.e. OCT 2025. My hypothesis : • Since the client got onboarded last month , and when i use" This Year compared to previous period filter" , the net revenue shows "No data for your filter selection" because there was no data present for the client in 2024 , and comparing it with previous period makes the whole Net revenue Zero. (Please let me know if this is the expected behaviour of comparing with filter) • Secondly ,have there been issues for "This Year compared to previous period Filter" lately ??

Hello, I am not aware of any errors related to this specifically but reading through your description I have two questions. Has the customer some data for the previous period loaded ? If not what do you expect as a result? From my point of view if you have no data for previous period the message is correct.

Hey , we don't have customer's previous year's data in the table. The customer was onboarded in Oct 2025 and we have data starting from Oct 2025 only. Expected Result: Revenue till now , 0 Revenue in previous period. The Visualisation Shouldn't show "No Data for Your Filter Selection" . Is there a work around for this. We are using visual Component approach to display Visualisations on Frontend. CC: @Ayush Kumar

Hi, so unfortunately we do not substitute missing data in this way. Possible workaround would be to load one row with zero for the missing period or maybe to try to build custom maql metric with ifnull https://www.gooddata.com/docs/cloud/create-metrics/maql/conditionals/ifnull/ or choose a comparisson for periods where you have already data.
s
okay , lets assume , we are calculating net revenue for 1 Loading One row with zero for missing period For this we would have to manually add a row with zero for the customers in the data base. It would take a lot of effort. For 2 using Ifnull maql metric This seems like a possible approach, but have a few questions for this . Its written here that it using ifnull approach would add significant computing time. Since we have a lot of visualisations, and some of them are already made using SQL dataset consisting of complex queries, this would also make the visualisation even more slow. Any other possible workaround ?
j
There are no other workarounds for this. You dont have to use the ifnull everywhere, I suggest you test it. This is a common feature used by many customers typically when they have incomplete records with empty values.
m
Hi Sammer, we are just wondering if you had the chance to test the proposed workaround using the IFNULL function.

we can't do it for every visualisation we've created, sorry but that just doesn't make sense

Hello Rajat, I’m sorry this isn’t the feedback you were hoping for. I will go ahead and submit this to our internal product team for possible consideration. Please note that we do not have an ETA at this time, as our team is currently focused on higher-priority tasks. Thank you for your understanding. Kind regards.

Hey, we tried updating this
useInsightView
implementation so that we can fall back to the primary measure’s metric value when the compare measure is missing, but we’re still getting an error. Ideally, if the compare measure is absent, the primary measure should always be available. Is there another way we can achieve this?
m
Hi Ayush, can you please provide more details about how and what specifically you updated? Additionally, can you please provide a DashboardId or direct link, together with a time window when you tried to check further in our logs?
r
any update on this @Yvonne Changamuka @Mauricio Cabezas

Hello Rajat, Are you looking for an update on the product feedback itself? If that is the case, then your best point of contact is with your GoodData Account Owner. If you need further assistance, however, I believe @Mauricio Cabezas had some follow up questions above.
