in front, even though the table already has the minus sign. How can we fix this? See screenshot below, there're 2 minus signs showing in front of the number. 2. Download as pdf, I can’t get the full table to export, some columns keep getting cut off. I’ve tried adjusting the dashboard and adding bigger margins on the right, but it hasn’t solved the problem. See screenshot below, the RTP vs LY column only shows part of the data, and there are still three more columns missing..

Thanks Joseph, thanks for the update. I’ll keep an eye on it and hopefully the issue gets sorted soon. Also, is it possible to have negative red numbers show with just a single minus sign when exported to Excel, instead of two?

Hi Cathy, This is Jan from the Technical Support team. I’m sorry the workaround didn’t resolve the issue and for the inconvenience this has caused. Both problems—the PDF export behaviour and the negative signs in XLS—have been reported as bugs with our Product Engineering team. They’re actively investigating potential fixes, but we don’t have an ETA yet. I’ll keep you updated as soon as we have progress.

Hi Cathy, in dashboards, you can schedule exports that send the dashboard as a PDF file, or a widget as CSV or XLSX tabular exports, at scheduled intervals. More details on this can be found here: https://www.gooddata.com/docs/cloud/create-dashboards/automation/scheduled-exports/

Thanks Michael, I’ve checked the site but can’t see an option for Excel in my dashboard (see screenshots below). Do you know how to add other formats to the schedule? I’m logged in as an admin.

Hi Cathy, Whole Dashboard cannot be sent as XLSX, only PDF. You need to set the scheduled export from the Visualization directly:

Hi Cathy, thank you for your patience while we thoroughly reviewed this issue with our engineering team. Based on our analysis, the export is working as currently designed. This behaviour is not a “bug” in the usual sense. The challenge comes from fitting responsive dashboard content into a fixed-width PDF page. Because of this, we unfortunately cannot always guarantee a perfect “what you see is what you get” result for dashboard exports. If you need the full table content in PDF format, we can only fully guarantee that in tabular widget PDF exports. For dashboard exports and snapshots, the responsive layout is respected, which can result in some columns not fitting onto the page. That said, we absolutely understand the impact this has on your users, and we are planning improvements to make this experience better: • We will update our documentation to clearly explain how export resolution and layout behave, so dashboards can be designed and optimised with exports in mind. • We will evaluate adding larger size options for Snapshot exports. This would provide more space than the current A4 layout and allow more table columns to fit onto a page. This should give users more flexibility when the default A4 export is not sufficient. These follow-up items will be tracked and prioritised separately, and while we don’t have an ETA yet, we will keep you updated through our standard release notes and documentation changes.

Thanks Michael. I’ve got another question about GD. In the screenshot, the ‘market share – previous month’ numbers are showing the data from one month before the selected month, because LGA data comes out with a one month lag. I want to show the other metrics for the selected month, but keep these three metrics showing the month before. Is there a way to set this up in GD so that when I pick a month in the date filter, those metrics automatically shift to the previous month??

Hi Cathy, regarding your question about showing “previous month” values automatically when a user selects a month in the dashboard filter: At the moment, GoodData Cloud does not support this type of dynamic offset. The dashboard date filter applies uniformly and there is no mechanism for a metric to detect the selected month and then automatically shift itself to “the previous month of that selection.” We can create metrics that always use a fixed previous month, or metrics that ignore the dashboard filter entirely, but these periods are not linked to the month chosen in the dashboard filter. Because of that, the exact behavior you’re looking for—one date filter on the dashboard, with certain metrics automatically shifting to the previous month of that same selection—is not currently possible in GoodData Cloud. If this capability would be valuable for your workflow, we can pass it on to our product team as a feature request. Please let us know.
