hi GD team, can it be the case that there's a bug with weekly overview, particularly in the comparison to the last year? it worked alright before in this configuration and seems to be off only for the last few days. it looks like when you choose last x weeks in the filter it's only taking one day value instead of the whole period a year ago. but when you choose last x months, then it's alright

Hello Masha, Thanks for reaching out, happy to help. Kindly share a link to the workspace or the object ID via DM so that we can further investigate this issue.

@Yvonne Changamuka Please let me know whether you're investigating this issue or i should re-share the details with someone else? It's pretty urgent for us, thanks

Hi @Masha Akatieva thanks for your patience. We did a few checks and carried out impersonation on this workspace. I can confirm that we were able to reproduce the issue. We are currently running further checks to investigate this issue. You mentioned that it worked just fine before, may you share some more information on this. When was the last time the feature worked just fine, some details on how it was working and when you started encountering this issue.
m
hi Yvonne, nice to hear you guys were able to to reproduce! we had that weekly graph for ages (since we migrated to cloud last year), we only noticed the issue a when reported. the graph is being monitored almost daily so the last week it was ok

Hi Masha, In the insight when you switch the 'group by' toggle to weeks, the filter has to be set according to the granularity you are trying to view. For example, you are trying to display data from April to the current date and comparing it with data in the same period from the previous year. The data is grouped by weeks, and the filter has to be correctly set for the period which you want to view. In this case april is 10 weeks ago, therefore the filter can be set for 10 weeks until the current week. I will share a copy of my test report to your dm and a screenshot of the filter I mentioned. Also, please feel free to refer to our documentation about using date filters on dashboards. Please let me know if this helps. https://www.gooddata.com/docs/cloud/create-dashboards/filters/date-filters-on-dashboards/

Response to DM: Hi Masha, thank you for your patience. I suggest displaying the data you are trying to display separately first to view the correct values for the aggregates you are trying to display and compare, this is to ensure so that correct values are known. I will also try to do that in the test report I created and revert to you once I gather more information.

Hi @Yvonne Changamuka, it doesn't sound like we fully understand each other. As stated initially, the correct values are well know. And we are not able to reach the known correct values ONLY at the WEEKLY scale while comparing it to the previous period year ago (a built in feature at the insight level). The values from period ago are displayed incorrectly (too low). At the same insight but switched to the monthly or daily granularity we are getting the correct values. The issue persists for a week now, can you please escalate it further and check this particular weekly aggregation calculation? it seems like there's a bug there. Thanks in advance for the fast reply
y
Hi Masha, Thanks for the clarification. We will investigate this further and use impersonation to recreate the issue. Our team will revert to you with our findings as soon possible. Thank you for your patience.

Hi Masha, Just a quick update, the issue has been escalated to our product team. We are currently awaiting confirmation on whether comparison of the Same Period Previous year when using weeks can be supported or if it's a bug. We will communicate as soon we get this confirmation. Thank you for your patience.
m
thank you much for staying on top of it, Yvonne!

I’d like to provide an update and let you know that we’ve submitted an internal ticket to our engineering team to investigate the issue with comparing the same period in the previous year when grouping by weeks. At this time, we’re unable to provide an estimated timeline, but we’ll keep you informed as soon as we have any updates.
m
got you, thanks, Moises
