Hey all, I'm pretty new to this and have some questions. Hopefully I'm asking in the right place and using the correct terminology. I read through Date Filters in Dashboards and have some questions specifically about the Date Range filter on a dashboard, and then the Date object on Insights. === In my example, I have some data about Service Tickets that includes Dates (created date, resolved date, claimed date, etc). When I apply a Date Range filter on the Dashboard - let's say I pick "This Year" - what is being used to determine what data exists in the time range I've selected? 2. When adding the "Date" object to an Insight, is there a way to set a 'default' selection for it any time it's added? Let's say I drag the "Date" option over to the 'Rows' for an Insight, can I make it so that it always 'defaults' to using "Date (Case Created Date)" instead of anything else?

Hi Ian, thank you for your questions. I guess they related to our GoodData Platform product and not GoodData Cloud, if so, then yes, this is the correct place to ask. To answer your first question, the date filter is picking the data related to the date filter used in your insight, for example, if you created your insight with the "Date (created date)", then the range for "This year" will show the data corresponding for this date. It does not have to always work this way, I suggest checking How the Dashboard Date Filter and Insight Date Filters Interact. 2. Setting a default date dimension in the "Date as" picker is not an option. They are arranged alphabetically, so you may try renaming them accordingly or using numbers, for example "1. Created Date", etc.

ahhh, that's exactly the information I was looking for. Looks like I need to keep reading some more. Thank you!!!!

quick follow up @Moises Morales If my Insight has no Date option included (maybe it's just a table of ID's or names), what does the "Date Range" filter of the Dashboard apply to for that Insight?

If the elements in the insight are not connected to any date dataset, then the date filter on the dashboard will not work.
