Is it possible to clone a dashboard? If not in the UI, what about the API? We need to have two versions with a couple small changes.

Yes. “Save as new” button is displayed instead of “Edit” button for “locked” dashboards. Locked dashboard cannot be edited but user can create a clone and edit the clone.

In a child workspace you can clone dashboard which is inherited from the parent workspace. Such dashboard clone will exist only in the child workspace and can be modified there without impact on the original dashboard which will be still available in the parent and all its children workspaces.
