We've started seeing GoodData making queries against our actual database schema. Is this an expected result? We've never seen this before.

Hi Ryan, can you tell me a bit more about these queries? When have they started? Have you made any recent changes that correlate with this new behavior?
Although GoodData Cloud has a robust cache that stores information and results for end-users, it still performs queries on your data source to gather the information and make the calculations in the first place, so I suppose it would be expected to find queries being run there.

This is the first time we've seen it run in our environment. So we're trying to understand if this is expected from GD (We've been on it for nearly a year now, and this is the first time this came up)

Hi Ryan! Yes, this is in fact the expected behavior. As our article Connect Data states, GD Cloud runs analytical queries directly on your data source. This is as designed, and allows us to bypass the need to an ETL process to visualize and calculate the data.
