Analytical Designer: Delete Insights Used on Dashboards and in Drilling

Analytical Designer now allows you to delete insights that are used on Dashboards (Free, Growth) and KPI Dashboards (Enterprise).

Previously, such insights had to be removed from these dashboards or drilling first. Now, you can delete them and they are removed automatically.

Life Cycle Management: Customize Number Format in Client Workspaces

The provisioning brick and the rollout brick, which are part of the Life Cycle Management (LCM) feature, now support the option for setting up a custom number format per client workspace.

For example, you can set up different currency codes for client workspaces with data from different countries (USD for the clients operating in the USA, EUR for the clients operating in Germany, and so on).

To set up a custom number format, use the metric_format parameter when scheduling the provisioning brick and/or the rollout brick.

Multiple Domain Administrators

You can now have more than one domain administrator for your domain. This gives you more flexibility when managing your domain (for example, you can have multiple domain administrators to cover different time zones; or, you do not lose access to your domain if the credentials of the domain administrator are lost).

We recommend that you use this option carefully. Among other things, a domain administrator manages the whole domain and its properties such as white-labeling settings and CORS settings, can add/delete users to/from the domain and change their various properties.

Renaming "Project" to "Workspace"

In an effort to simplify naming conventions, we are consolidating usage of the following terms:

  • Project
  • Workspace

Both terms have been used to denote a single entity.

Starting from September 9, 2021:

  • Throughout the GoodData platform UI, you will only work with the term workspace.
  • When interacting with the APIs (directly or via the gray pages), you will continue to use the term project to prevent any impact on existing implementations.

You can opt out temporarily by contacting GoodData Support.

How does it affect you?

All changes that are implemented in the GoodData platform UI are backward-compatible and should not impact existing implementations. For example, your embedding links will continue to work even if they still have "project" in the URL.

The term "project" will stay native to the APIs and gray pages.

GoodSuccess: New Version Available

A new version of GoodSuccess, a tool that monitors and analyzes performance of your GoodData domain, is now available.

What's new in the latest version

  • Tracking usage of Analytical Designer and KPI Dashboards
  • Tracking usage of GoodData.UI
  • Improved user experience
  • Optimized data processing including earlier data refresh

How does it affect you?

You are affected if you are using an older version of GoodSuccess. The GoodData Support team will be contacting you to discuss steps and a timeframe to upgrade you to the new version.

ACTION REQUIRED!

Once a GoodData Support specialist contacts you, please work with them to upgrade you to the new version of GoodSuccess.

You can also initiate the upgrade process from your side by contacting GoodData Support and requesting the new version of GoodSuccess.

What will happen if you do not upgrade to the new version?

The older versions of GoodSuccess will be disabled in the future (the date will be communicated to you by the GoodData Support team). Once this happens, if you have not upgraded to the new version of GoodSuccess, you will not be able to use GoodSuccess.

Version 7.x of GoodData.UI reached its end-of-development, and it is now in maintenance mode until March 31, 2022, when it will reach its end-of-support. The versions older than Version 7.x are no longer supported.

How does it affect you?

You are affected if you are using a version of GoodData.UI older than Version 8.x.

ACTION REQUIRED!

Upgrade your GoodData.UI to Version 8.x. We recommend that you do so as soon as possible.

  1. Review the breaking changes in Version 8.0.
  2. Follow our step-by-step Migration Guide that will walk you through the migration process.

What will happen if you do not upgrade to Version 8.x?

When Version 7.x reaches its end-of-support, it will receive neither new features nor bug fixes. No technical support will be provided. Although the version will still be available for use, we do not recommend that you use it.

GoodData is announcing the end-of-support of Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 effective November 19, 2021.

How does it affect you?

You are affected if you are using Internet Explorer 11 for accessing the GoodData Portal.

REMINDER: Use TLS Version 1.2 or Higher Only

Support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.0 and 1.1 is deprecated and will end in one of future releases. We will announce the exact date as soon as it is set.

How will this affect you?
All modern web browsers and programming languages already support the newer versions of TLS (1.2 and higher). Unless you use obsolete software or unsupported systems, you are not affected.

You may be affected if you are using an older version of the libraries or programming languages in your tools. To verify, check the documentation for your tool:

ACTION REQUIRED!
Make sure that all your components and integrations use TLS version 1.2 or higher.

What will happen if you do not upgrade to the newer versions?
When support for TLS version 1.0 and 1.1 ends, if you do not switch to a newer version of TLS, the integration with the GoodData platform will stop working.
