Customize Height of Widgets on KPI Dashboards

Dashboards (Free and Growth) and KPI Dashboards (Enterprise) now allow you to change the height of the widgets on the dashboards. For example, you can shrink the charts and KPIs to increase the information density, or enlarge tables or geocharts to provide the end users with complete information.

To improve the responsiveness of the resized widgets, we also made the following changes:

  • If the widget is shrunk, axes names and labels may be automatically hidden in order to provide maximum space for the chart itself.
  • Chart legends can now display paginated or in a pop-up window to provide more space for the chart.

Hide Attribute Filters in KPI Dashboards View Mode Using Embedding Parameter

It is now possible to hide any attribute filter in the view mode of Dashboards (Free, Growth) and KPI Dashboards (Enterprise).

You can hide the filters by adding a special embedding parameter with filter identifiers to the URL of the embedded dashboard.

CSV Downloader and ADS Integrator to Use AWS Java SDK

CSV Downloader and ADS Integrator now use the AWS SDK for Java instead of the AWS SDK for Ruby when downloading source files from S3 buckets. Switching to the AWS SDK for Java helps improve stability of data loading processes and optimize resource consumption.

How does it affect you?

No impact on your data load processes is expected. However, if you start experiencing unusual behavior or any issues when loading data from S3 buckets via CSV Downloader and ADS Integrator, please contact GoodData Support.

Is there any action item?

No changes are needed on your side.

End-of-Support: Deploying Data Loading Processes from Ruby Scripts without Bundled Dependencies

Starting from July 1, 2021, you will not be able to deploy new data loading processes or re-deploy the existing ones from Ruby scripts without bundled dependencies. To be able to deploy a process from a Ruby script, you must include Gemfile, Gemfile.lock, and info.json to your Ruby script.

REMINDER: End-of-Support of Internet Explorer 11

GoodData is announcing the end-of-support of Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 effective November 19, 2021.

How does it affect you?

You are affected if you are using Internet Explorer 11 for accessing the GoodData Portal.

ACTION REQUIRED!

In preparation for the end-of-support, switch to one of our supported browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox.

What will happen if you still use Internet Explorer 11 after November 19, 2021?

After this date, you will no longer be able to use the following:

Support for the following components will continue:

Major GoodData.UI versions released after this date will not support Internet Explorer 11.

See the list of supported browsers in System Requirements and Supported Browsers.

REMINDER: Upgrade Your Ruby Bricks to Use Latest Versions of Ruby SDK

We will be providing support only for the two most recent major versions of the Ruby SDK: the latest major (2.x.x) and previous major (1.3.6) versions.

The two most recent major versions will be supported as follows:

  • The latest major version will receive all new functionality updates and all bug fixes.
  • The previous major version will receive critical feature fixes and security fixes. These fixes will be applied on top of the last released version of the previous major version.

IMPORTANT! This is not an end-of-life announcement.

How does it affect you?

You are affected if you use Ruby bricks that were deployed from GoodData Appstore.

ACTION REQUIRED!

Check the version of Ruby SDK that the Ruby bricks deployed from GoodData Appstore use. If the bricks use a version older than the previous major version (1.3.6), contact GoodData Support.

What will happen if you do not upgrade to the latest version?

If you continue using an older version of Ruby SDK, you might experience API incompatibilities and performance and security issues.

We will reach out to you if you are using an old unsupported version.

REMINDER: Upgrade Your GoodData.UI to Version 8.x

Version 7.x of GoodData.UI reached its end-of-development, and it is now in maintenance mode until March 31, 2022, when it will reach its end-of-support. The versions older than Version 7.x are no longer supported.

How does it affect you?

You are affected if you are using a version of GoodData.UI older than Version 8.x.

ACTION REQUIRED!

Upgrade your GoodData.UI to Version 8.x. We recommend that you do so as soon as possible.

  1. Review the breaking changes in Version 8.0.
  2. Follow our step-by-step Migration Guide that will walk you through the migration process.

What will happen if you do not upgrade to Version 8.x?

When Version 7.x reaches its end-of-support, it will receive neither new features nor bug fixes. No technical support will be provided. Although the version will still be available for use, we do not recommend that you use it.

Learn more:

To learn more about how different versions of GoodData.UI go through the life cycle phases and what level of support you can expect when using a specific version, see Supported Versions.

REMINDER: Use TLS Version 1.2 or Higher Only

Support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.0 and 1.1 is deprecated and will end in one of future releases. We will announce the exact date as soon as it is set.

How will this affect you?

All modern web browsers and programming languages already support the newer versions of TLS (1.2 and higher). Unless you use obsolete software or unsupported systems, you are not affected.

You may be affected if you are using an older version of the libraries or programming languages in your tools. To verify, check the documentation for your tool:

ACTION REQUIRED!

Make sure that all your components and integrations use TLS version 1.2 or higher.

What will happen if you do not upgrade to the newer versions?

When support for TLS version 1.0 and 1.1 ends, if you do not switch to a newer version of TLS, the integration with the GoodData platform will stop working.
