Are there any plans to add integration to Amazon Timestream?

It’s only just been given general availability this week, but Amazon Timestream would be a great data source to be able to work with in GoodData. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200930006011/en/AWS-Announces-General-Availability-of-Amazon-Timestream
Is it likely that you’d add support in the Growth Plan for this?

Hi @James, not any immediate plans right now but we are looking at all possible data sources.

Let me ask a few questions:

  • Are you already using Timestream? Can you tell us something about how are you using it or how do you plan to use it?
  • Do you basically want to use it the same way as you are using your existing database?
  • Do you think that our upcoming CSV over S3 integration would be sufficient for you to successfuly integrate GoodData with Timestream?

Thank you

Pavel

Hi @Pavel

  • Not using it just yet, but it really suits IoT use cases. It was only made generally available yesterday.
  • That would be the starting point it does provide some clever means of analysis….
  • I don’t think S3 comes into the equation here. Timestream is for large volumes of data so I don’t think the CSV approach would make sense for it. But maybe! I haven’t seen the option to use S3 from Timestream.

Thanks
James

Hi @James, no updates about the Timestream but I wanted to make sure that you know that the CSV over S3 integration is available (including the full support for incremental updates). The documentation is available from https://help.gooddata.com/doc/en/building-on-gooddata-platform/data-preparation-and-distribution/direct-data-distribution-from-data-warehouses-and-object-storage-services/integrate-data-from-your-amazon-s3-bucket-directly-to-gooddata
